Quick FAQs

 

Q:  What are your actual work hours? Is there flexibility?
A:  Our business hours at our Traverse City and Petoskey clinics are Monday - Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm, and Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Most positions work our standard business hours. While we currently offer full-time positions, there is some flexibility for most roles, with potential for more flexible arrangements in the future as we continue to grow.
 
Q:  Do you offer remote work or hybrid options?
A:  We currently operate as an in-person workplace, though hybrid scheduling may become available in the future as we explore new ways to support our team.
 
Q:  How do you handle work-life balance? Are you expected to answer emails after hours?
A:  We genuinely care about your life outside of work. There are no after-hours commitments or expectations to answer emails outside business hours. We offer vacation time and earned sick time (EST) that accrues starting from day one to help you attend to personal and family health needs.
 
Q:  What's your stance on diversity and inclusion?
A:  We embrace diversity and look forward to sharing viewpoints and collaboration from all walks of life. We care about people in all forms and backgrounds, and believe our differences make us stronger as a team.
 
Q:  What does "team-first culture" actually look like day-to-day?
A:  Our team-first approach means we help each other with daily tasks and end each day together with all jobs completed. No one is left behind to handle challenges on their own - we succeed together.
 
Q:  What does the typical career path look like?
A:  We believe in promoting from within! Many of our clinical technicians started at the front desk and advanced through hands-on training and certification programs. We actively support internal job changes and encourage staff to further their education to advance their careers.
 
Q:  Do you provide continuing education opportunities?
A:  Yes! Our clinical team has access to Eyecare Marketplace through JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) for continuing education credits towards their earned certifications, plus classroom training and comprehensive training materials. Our optical team is also encouraged to become certified and earn continuing education credits through the American Board of Opticianry (ABO). We're also happy for staff to shadow other departments if they're interested in exploring different career paths within our organization.
 
Q:  Do I really not need medical experience?
A:  Nope! We care more about your attitude, customer service skills, and willingness to learn.
 
Q:  What does the interview process look like?
A:  Our process typically includes a phone screening followed by an in-person interview. The entire process usually takes 2-3 weeks, depending on manager availability.
 
Q:  How soon are you looking to fill positions?
A:  We're actively hiring and looking to fill positions within 2-3 weeks.
